Valentine First Dinner Party!

Here's the full view of our first Valentine dinner of the season!  I pulled out all my Depression Glass Cape Cod stemmed glassware to use with a set of Cheryl Madden china.  I've been looking at this china patter (JCPenny) for three years ... thinking it would make a fantastic Valentine setting ... and finally bought it.  I'd call it very, very inexpensive ... but I'll happily set it alongside my Spode or Noritake anytime!

Here's a better view of the glassware.  I love it ... It can look fancy ... or a little country! Works with lots of settings.

The red heart-shaped plates came from Hobby Lobby ... the black rim made them a perfect match for this tablecloth that came from TJMaxx.  The tablecovering may seem a little non-traditional for Valentines Day ... but it has a bird in the print ... and I equate birds with St. Valentine.  He thought that birds found their mates in mid February ... thus the date he chose to secretly marry young couples.  I'm not crazy about my gold flatware because I find it difficult to clean (not nearly as easy as polishing silverplate) .. .but it works best with this china!

The candlelite views are pretty special!  I made the centerpiece with silk roses and light gold hydrangeas.  The basket I used actually has a hinged lid,  but I just propped it open!
